In need of Holiday

Who isn't, right? It's that time of the year when you suddenly realise... it's already towards the end of February, the supermarkets are selling Easter eggs (but NO WHERE can I find the Ferrero Eggs! Franklins used to sell them when it was still being supplied by PicknPay, now it's Metcash with its blackngold rubbish... disappointed!), and year is going by so quickly, what is this I don't even..

So, been busy lately.. I've taken to eating my brother's food since he's always digging into mine.

And to keep awake, I've actually.. not had coffee for a while now.

Free classic book from Kino!

So today is a day I really needed- a day off! Monday and Tuesday are the two days that completely screws me over, filled with music therapy sessions that leave me so drained, I have no problem falling asleep at night, even at 10pm.

So my day off was a nice day of lunch catch up with sukari, who is lamenting over his friends leaving him to go overseas :P jk. Then headed off to Kino and redeemed a voucher for a free classic book. FL posted the link on facebook from the kino website, so thank you, I got a free book, though I don't know many classics and had the girl at the counter choose one for me instead. She admitted that she hasn't read any either and chose 'The Road Home' for me as it has been the most popular.

Also got Yotsuba! Vol 11 for me, and the translated version of vol 10 for pottie's birthday next year. All good! Haha.

Chilling at TomsnToms waiting for my bus home now, and then catch up on more sleep before writing session notes. Day off is good!

Pink stuff

Yea, so it's Valentine's Day =_= I'm almost falling asleep at the keyboard, but I did promise an entry, so...
From 114___02
Despite the title of this entry, there's going to be nothing pink about it, except for the heart you get above. That's my half eaten dinner of tonkatsu don. I made it for my parents too~ such a sweet daughter right? :D At my second attempt in a long time at making tonkatsu, I've discovered that the trick to making perfect tonkatsu is to LIBERALLY coat the pork with panko. Like cover it 5 times or something, and pat the panko so it sticks to the pork and keep patting until no more panko can stick on. And use one glove for the egg wash, another glove for both flour and panko, so you won't get messy hands.

5 and a half hours

Happy birthday to YJ, a good friend from high school!  Even though it was quite belated, but BT and I went over to her house for steamboat dinner. The weather's been so cold lately, it feels perfectly normal having hot pot.

BT brought a melon which YJ's mum prepared for us. Seriously, her attention to detail and presentation is crazy! I really need to learn from her and put more effort into presentation of food...

Tonkatsu post next?

Bulldog and imitation kewpie

So yesterday was a quick trip to North Strathfield just to explore it a bit. I go past North Strat almost every Sunday to get picked up for badminton, but never actually had a chance to walk through the shops.

There's a pancake on the rocks there, an Aldi, Subway, Gloria Jeans, a chocolate dessert shop, and quite a few restaurants that look quite interesting.

There was also a Korean supermarket where I got the sunflower seeds in the previous post... it was actually only 60 cents or so... and also an imitation kewpie mayo bottle for half the price of kewpie. Bulldog sauce was from the supermarket near Townhall, but I shall be making tonkatsu soon with that.

Talking about tonkatsu, I saw runnyrunny999's youtube channel. Apparently, the chef of cookingwithdog was involved in a serious accident while mountain biking. Shall pray for her most speedy recovery :(

Addiction

There was a time when I was obsessed with these chocolate coated sunflower seeds, pouring the seeds from the packet straight into my mouth in the most unladylike fashion.

It must be Lotte brand too, cos there are so many imitations out there that uses crappy chocolate, it tastes like.. Fake chocolate.

80 cents a packet! :D
